We’ve all heard — and hopefully believe — that life is about the journey, not the destination. This means different things to different people, but the common ground is twofold. First, it’s about finding joy in the moment. Second, it’s understanding that we all share one fundamental quest: to be well. And so it only makes sense that if wellness is also a journey, not a destination, the pursuit of well-being is, well, life.
But when it comes to this common pursuit, each of us has a vastly different approach. Humans are unique and so are our interests, needs, and desires. Your journey is different from my journey yet there are points where we may intersect.
For this reason, a journey well-navigated (the ups, the downs, the intersections, the parallels) requires three essential elements: (1) knowledge and inspiration, (2) connection and support, and (3) great wellness solutions. Each is a key ingredient, each comes with a set of challenges and together they are incredibly powerful.
Knowledge and inspiration.
In our hyper-connected world, the flow of information is beyond anything we have ever seen. The volume and velocity at which content is created across publications, platforms, and people is happening at record-breaking levels and only accelerating. In this flow, it’s increasingly hard to determine what is real and what is not. Great consumer marketing, fake news, misinformation, and disinformation abound, making it not only difficult but time-consuming to find the truth. But there are ways to find knowledge and inspiration anchored in authenticity and truth.
Human connection and support.
We are social beings and community has always been as essential to our survival as food, water, and shelter. The groups that we cultivate over a lifetime become a mechanism through which we are supported and offer support. In our evolving world, where so much of this community is moving from the physical to the digital world, we are challenged to find authentic and meaningful connections. But there are ways to find connection and support.
Great wellness solutions.
The wellness market will reach $7T by 2025, according to the Global Wellness Institute. To put that in perspective, at the end of 2021, the nominal GDP at current US Dollar exchange rates of the third largest economy in the world, Japan, was $5.06T. Basically, there is no shortage of products and services to support the human aspiration to be well. In a market of this size, it can be difficult to weed through the mess. But there are ways to shop well to be well.
If our personal journeys are reliant on these three ingredients — the content we consume, the connections we build, and the products and services that support our needs — then we require a solution and, even more importantly, an experience, that brings them all together in one place.
